You may have read details about Mukesh Ambani's new house-in-the-making at Altamount Road, but even as work on its construction goes on in full swing, here on your right is the first picture of what it will look like when it's complete.
Mumbai Mirror is in possession of the entire architectural plan for Residence Antilia (as the house is going to be called, after a mythical island), the subject of enormous curiosity in the city ever since the Reliance Industries Ltd chairman purchased the 4,532 sq mt plot in 2002.The plan, drawn up by the firm Perkins+Will, reveals that the house will resemble a virtual glass palace, with entertainment centres, a health club, a swimming pool and various green spots thrown in for good measure.C onstruction of Mukesh Ambani’s new house at Altamount Road, where real estate prices are now in the region of Rs 75,000 per sq ft, began in late 2006, and the first six floors are already in place now. The building is expected to be complete in September 2008.
27 FLOORS
According to the plan, the house will rise to a height of 173.12 meters, equivalent to that of a regular 60-storeyed residential building. However, Antilia will have only 27 storeys in all, which means each floor will have a ceiling considerably higher than the current average of nearly three meters.Six floors for parkingThe first six floors — which have come up — will be reserved for parking alone, and that too for cars belonging only to Mukesh's family. Space for a total of 168 'imported' cars has been earmarked here.
Floor for car maintenance
Sources said the Ambanis would prefer to have all their cars serviced and maintained at an in-house service centre. This centre will be set up on the seventh floor.
Entertainment floor
The eighth floor will have an entertainment centre comprising a mini-theatre with a seating capacity of 50. Balconies with gardensThe rooftop of the mini-theatre will serve as a garden, and immediately above that, three more balconies with terrace gardens will be independent floors.
The 'health' floors
While the ninth floor will a 'refuge' floor — meant to be used for rescue in emergencies — two floors above that will be set aside for 'health.' One of these will have facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, while the other will have a health club complete with the latest gym equipment.
For guests
There will be a two-storeyed glass-fronted apartment for the Ambani family's guests above the health floors. One more refuge floor and one floor for mechanical works will be built on top of these apartments.FamilyThe four floors at the top, that will provide a view of the Arabian Sea and a superb view of the city's skyline, will be for Mukesh, his wife Neeta, their three children and Mukesh's mother Kokilaben.
Air space floor
According to the plan, two floors above the family's residence will be set aside as maintenance areas, and on top of that will be an "air space floor," which will act as a control room for helicopters landing on the helipad above.
Helipad
The plan states that three helipads are to be built on the terrace. However, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials told this paper that permission for the helipads has not been granted yet. "The residential plans were approved three-four years ago. Two levels of basement have also been shown in the proposed project," Sudhir Shinde, deputy engineer at the BMC's building proposals department said.
Staff
Nearly 600 staffers are expected to work full-time in the building, sources said. Total statsAccording to BMC records, the total area of Mukesh's Altamount Road plot is 4,532.39 square meters. The proposed built-up area is 4,778.09 square meters (only for residential purposes), and the permissible built-up area 4,939.81 square meters.

What do new Millionaires Buy? NBA New Contract Allows Gilbert Arenas to Splurge on New Pool.
Gilbert just got a new 6 year $111,000,000 Contract. He wasted no time spending some of it on a new pool. I would have no problem partying there.
Here are the Rumors:
* The stone for the "mountain" cost nearly half a million dollars.
* There are three different fish tanks, one going in the "grotto," one in the front hall, and one in the basement. Their normal retail price would have been about another half-million.
* The tank in the basement will have a recess with a couch in it so Gil can "relax and look up at the fish."
* The work is scheduled to be finished in August.

Russian fertilizer billionaire, Dmitry Rybolovlev, has agreed to pay $100 million to Donald Trump for his Palm Beach, Fla., mansion.
It is the most expensive sale of a U.S. single-family home. "This is the highest price ever paid for a house. And I think it's a bargain," said Mr. Trump.
Donald Trump paid $41.4 million for the estate at a bankruptcy-court auction in 2004 and had his apprentice winner Kendra Todd oversee a $25 million cosmetic renovation.
The 33,000-square-foot mansion, built in 1990, is on 6.5 acres with 475 feet on the ocean. Mr. Trump cut the price to $100 million from $125 million recently. But the home will probably be torn down and subdivided. Mr Rybolovlev said the purchase was an investment only.
Mr. Rybolovlev, born in 1966, is one of Russia's richest businessmen. The Forbes list of the world's billionaires places him at No. 59, with an estimated net worth of $12.8 billion.

For nine years I lived in million dollar homes for free and it is something that anyone who is neat and conscientious can easily do. My junior year in college, a professor who I had assisted received a year long sabbatical to live in a foreign country. During that time, he needed someone to housesit his house and asked me if I would be willing to do it. I paid no rent although I did need to pay for utilities. All that was required of me was to do some basic house and garden maintenance and keep the place clean.
Even after I got married, my wife and I continued to live rent free in million dollar vacation homes as housesitters. It wasn’t until we decided to have children of our own that we decided to purchase a house after being able to live rent free for 9 years (5 while I was single and 4 more while married). That 9 years of rent free living (although I was always responsible for the utilities) enable us to save over $100,000 toward a house purchase since I paid rent to myself during the entire time.
Getting started is the hard part: By far the most difficult part of housesitting is to get that first job and it’s not that difficult to do. I lucked into mine as mentioned above, but others (you tend to meet others that are doing the same thing in your area when you housesit) said it just took a bit of promoting themselves and getting the word out. Once you get the first opportunity and do a good job, opportunities after that become much easier to secure through recommendations and word of mouth.
Being neat and responsible is essential: Once you have a job housesitting, being both neat and responsible are essential if you want to get more jobs in the future. The easiest way to get a bad name is to leave the house a mess when the owners return or have them hear about parties or other events that took place while they were gone.
Being single helps: Being single helps since you will be moving on a yearly basis or so to new places. It’s possible to do it being married without kids as well, but both of you have to enjoy it and be willing to move frequently. Once you have kids, it pretty much becomes impossible to do with the constant moving and the damage that kids can do to a house.
Basic maintenance skills help: What will be required to do as part of the housesitting can vary, but basically you will need to do regular maintenance and yard work. As you move into higher end houses, you won’t even need to do yard work as most will have gardeners come by to do it on a regular basis.
You must live light: Since the houses are furnished and you will be moving often, you have to be willing to live light without a lot of your own stuff. Even my wardrobe was fairly limited. I never bought my own TV until we moved into a house of our own. If you have a lot of stuff, there just isn’t room for it and it makes moving more difficult when it’s time to switch housesitting jobs.
Liking pets will increase opportunities: If you like pets (but don’t have any of your own) you will increase the chances of landing a housesitting job. For those people that have been transferred overseas for a specific period, they often need someone to take care of their pets as well as housesit.
Location, location, location: There are definitely certain locations that make it a lot easier to secure these jobs than others. Holiday vacation spots where people often buy a second home are a great place to find these opportunities as well as college and university towns.
Flexibility with work helps: Having a job that has some flexibility helps quite a bit. There is never a guarantee where housesitting jobs are available so you may have to move a little out of the area to secure one. Having a job that requires you live in a certain area can make that difficult while having a job where to can live anywhere can open up a lot of opportunities.
Programs aren’t worth the effort: Unless you have true flexibility to move anywhere to housesit, joining one of the many programs that help people find these jobs is not worth the cost. That’s because any advertisement will receive multiple offers making the competition for the jobs quite competitive. Working to let your friends and family know that you are looking to housesit along with placing a small ad in the local paper give you a much better chance of landing your first housesitting opportunity.
